Dating back to the Bronze Age, Nicosia has been continuously inhabited since the Chalcolithic Era (3000 BC until present day), with its first inhabitants settling in the fertile Mesaoria Valley. Nicosia’s illustrious history and geographical uniqueness have made it a crossroads for some of the most important civilizations. Imprints left by greats such as the Ptolemies, the Romans and the Byzantines, the Franks, the Venetians, the Ottomans and finally the British may be encountered in one’s travails through the Old Town area of Nicosia.
It was a surprise to discover that Nicosia was not the impressive capital that one encounters today. Historians believe that it was built over the ancient city of Ledra , a small town that existed around 7th – 8th century BC
Nicosia was able to take advantage of its natural resources and geographical position at the center of the island. Cyprus’ last days as a monarchy ended with the Franks when Catherine Cornaro, the last queen of Cyprus , was forced to give the island to Venetians. Old Nicosia is surrounded by the Venetian Walls, behind which one may discover the city’s historic past unfolded into a magical labyrinth of museums, old churches and medieval buildings. The Nicosia Walls were built by the Franks in the 16th century after the Lusignan kings arrived on the island. The Venetians realized that the walls did not offer adequate protection from invaders and tore them down, replacing them with the walls that remain until present day. The Ottomans repaired the walls and covered them with stones during their occupation of Nicosia. Until today, the Walls are the most well – preserved construction in the city.

PROJECT NETWORK - ORGANIZERS
The project consortium includes partners from Italy, Cyprus, Belgium, Malta, Croatia and Hungary. Cultural operators from Cyprus are the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, the Pierides Museum-Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, the Larnaka Cultural Foundation for Children and Youth, the Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum and Pocket Theater. The Cyprus cultural operators are coordinated by the Cyprus Computer Society.
 Cyprus Computer Society
The Cyprus Computer Society was established in 1984 and numbers more than 1000 members. IT functions as a nonprofit organization and aims to improve and promote high standards among IT professionals in recognition of an impact that ICT has on employment, business, and society, but also on the quality of life of citizens. The CCS plays a key role in linking Academies with the Industry through the promotion of the elements of Informatics, in particular in the areas of digital literacy, professional skills, professionalism, education, training and research. In addition, it participates in various European projects related to the ICT sector and competitions and events such as Robotex Cyprus, Cyprus Challenge - Cyprus Cyber Security Challenge, Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics, Hour of code, etc.

 The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia
The Leventis Municipal Museum presents the history and social development of the city of Nicosia from the Chalcolithic period around 3.900 BC up to the present days.
The Museum was founded in 1984 by the Anastasios G. Leventis Foundation and the Municipality of Nicosia and was inaugurated in 1989. Two years later, in 1991, the Leventis Museum was honoured with the European Museum of the Year Award. Today, entirely refurbished and with the new “Constantine Leventis” wing, the Museum aims to continue in its mission of contributing to the protection of Nicosia’s history. The permanent exhibition spaces are home to exhibits which take the visitor on a journey through Nicosia’s history, a history that began 1.800.000 years ago.
The Museum’s collections represent over 6.000 years of the capital's history. The collections are wide - ranging and include archaeological artefacts, costumes, photographs, medieval pottery, maps, engravings, jewels and furniture and many other artefacts that represent and depict the history of the city of Nicosia which is the capital of Cyprus since the 10th century AD.
Every year the Museum is organising or hosting a number of temporary exhibitions, lectures, educational programmes and other events. The temporary exhibition space hosts exhibitions from other museums and foundations from Cyprus and abroad, while, at the same time, it organizes exhibitions aimed at the promotion of the history and social development of the city.

 Pierides Museum - Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation
The Pierides Museum – Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is considered being one of the most important archaeological museums in Cyprus. The archaeological collection is housed in the Pierides Mansion, an extraordinary building of 1825, and it is consisted of 2500 archaeological artefacts from all over Cyprus, presenting 9000 years of art and Cypriot culture.

 Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum
Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum is an interactive space in which tradition and intangible cultural heritage of Cyprus traditional milling and bread-making are being preserved and revitalized. During your visit here, the visitor is given the opportunity to experience the Cypriot milling cultural heritage and interact with it, with all your senses, watching the milling history through visual installations, observing the authentic procedure taking life before their own eyes, listening to the sounds that accompanied the daily life of our ancestors, such as the one of our traditional stone-mill, that will function during exhibition hours. The participants will be making their own boule of bread with your hands; taking a long whiff of the rich aroma of the freshly baked bread and of course they will taste an authentic Cypriot whole-wheat bread, especially made for the purposes of the tour.
In its three year course, the Museum has organised two theatrical programs and several other educational programs. Hadjigiorkis Flourmill Museum participates in several activities promoting tourism and culture of Cyprus and for that it has been awarded with the Special Recognition Award by the Cyprus Hotel Association in 2018.

 Larnaka Cultural Foundation for Children and Youth
Larnaka Cultural Foundation for Children and Youth was founded by the Ministry of Education and it operates as a non-profit, non-governmental organization since July 2010 with the support of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as with the support of the Municipality of Larnaka.
Its purpose is creativity, to provide equal access and participation in cultural goods, enhancing multiculturalism, promotion and preservation of cultural identity and generally contributing to any cultural and artistic programs and events, with an emphasis on children, adolescents and young people.
Its aim is to provide a "healthy" environment for children and young people of all ages where they can create, regardless of their origin or economic status, by offering workshops of theatre, music, art, personal development, creative writing, cinematography among others. In addition to the workshops, the Foundation organises different events throughout the year through which art and culture are promoted.
The Foundation is managed by a Board composed of representatives from: the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Larnaka City Hall, the Federation of Associations of Parents of Secondary Education Larnaka, the Federation of Associations of Parents of Primary Education Larnaka, the House of Arts and Literature and the Larnaka District Development Agency.

 Pocket Theater Cyprus
Pocket Theatre Cyprus is an NGO that was founded in Limassol Cyprus back in 2013. It aims in presenting classical work in new ways. The organisation’s last production was the european premier of Chuck Mee’s musical “Queens Boulevard” with showings in all 4 major cities of the island.
In addition to its activities, in 2017 the Pocket Theatre founded another branch for the company, “Mpalwmeni Tsepi” that is producing theatrical pieces for kids and teenagers.The company has produced more than 10 theatrical pieces for adults and 14 pieces that are more family oriented.
The theater is next to a show for the past two years.
